What is the water temperature when scuba diving in Hawaii ?
Temperature is around 74 degrees from November to April and slowly peaks up to 78 degrees from April to November.
Do I need to be certified to scuba dive in Hawaii ?
No ! Just need to be 10 years or more , in good health and a good swimmer. Pretty much anyone can scuba dive , being relaxed
How long does it take to start scuba diving, without the certification ?
Trying scuba diving in Oahu out for the first time is simple. It usually takes around 25 minutes of training either in the pool or on the boat. There the Hawaii scuba diving Instructor will go over all the gear and a few skills to ensure a safe scuba diving experience.
Does your ears hurt when scuba diving in Hawaii ?
No and yes. No if you properly equalize your eyes by pinching your nose and gently blowing out. Yes if you do not do this. This is called the Valsalva maneuver in technical terms or just" clearing your ears" as we say in the industry.
What kind of marine life do you see in Hawaii?
This will depend on where you go for your first time scuba diving experience. Out there at the reefs any thing can go. Turtles, sharks, rays and even dolphins are commonly seen. Many of Hawaii's reef fish can be seen including the state fish, humuhumunukunukuāpua`a.
How long are the dive times or bottom times while scuba diving ?
Typically divers get 30-50 minute underwater. Please remember though, everyone is different. Females generally use less air due to lung capacity. Also the size of tanks matter too. The deeper you go in scuba the less time you can spend underwater due to the water's pressure on the air molecule- the air molecule is smaller.
Honestly, is scuba diving dangerous ?
Like anything we do in life there is always a slight danger that is involved. However, you are ore likely to get hurt driving around Waikiki than scuba diving.
I may be pregnant. Will this be a problem?
Yes it will. Be advised that if you think you are pregnant OR know you are pregnant please do not dive. This could complicate the pregnancy. Besides, you can wait 9 months !
